MD Radiology Admission In Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Centre (TMU), Moradabad 2016

Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College & Research Centre has been established to impart quality medical education and produce competent healthcare providers (Doctors) to serve the Society with approval of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare for an admission intake of 100 MBBS students per session since 2008. The college got recognition status in the year 2013. From session 2014-15, College has applied for enhancement to 150 MBBS seats.

The Medical College and Research Center conducts Post Graduate degree (MD) in Pre and Para Clinical subjects of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Sciences since 2012-13 and Community Medicine and Pharmacology since 2013-14 approved by the Medical Council of India. From academic year 2014-15, the Medical Council of India has approved MD/MS in Medicine, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Surgery, Radiology, Anesthesiology, Pediatrics, ENT and Ophthalmology and in Orthopaedics, OBG and TB & Chest from the academic session 2015-16.

The college has started three year post graduate program in M.Sc. Medical (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Microbiology) to augment the availability of qualified teachers in Pre & Para Clinical subjects. Five batches of M.Sc. students have already been admitted. Ph.D. programme in these 5 subjects have commenced from 2013-14.

The hospital facilities of the institution provides modern health care including critical care and emergency services to the population at large. During a short span of time, the hospital has developed into 800 bed tertiary care hospital with life saving facilities. A casualty section with 27 beds and intensive care unit having 57 beds for for various sub-specialties like ICCU, ICU, RICU, NICU, PICU, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Burn treatment unit has been added. Department of General Surgery provides facilities for Endoscopic Studies & Surgeries. Department of Medicine facilitates Echocardiography, TMT and Cath lab.

Department of Radiology provides Fluoroscopy and facilities for Ultrasound & Color Doppler Studies, Digital X-Rays with image intensifier, CT Scene, MRI and Mammography. The hospital has 12 well equipped modern operation theatres for General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT and Obstetrics & Gynecology besides one for emergency services in the Casualty Section. Central Laboratory caters for Pathological, Clinical Biochemistry & Microbiology investigations. The lecture theatres and demonstration rooms are well equipped with audio visual aids. In addition to these, computerized animal experimental exercises are used in pharmacology so as to save animal life. Workshops and conference are organized on important and current issues from time to time.

Growing spectrum of disease and increasing demand has seen expansion of various clinical departments with provision of super specialty care in Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College Hospital .The Hospital is the apex health institution and provides tertiary care to the entire population of Moradabad and adjoining districts, besides imparting clinical training to the students.

The Medical college Hospital has bed strength of 800 beds. It houses the various clinical and para-clinical departments like Medicine, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Pulmonary Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Eye, ENT, Orthopedics, Gynae & Obs, Radiology, Anesthesia, Blood Bank, and central lab (Pathology, Microbiology, Bio- Chemistry). The diagnostic facilities like MRI, Spiral CT and Cardiac Cath Lab, have recently been introduced in the Hospital.

Over the period, Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical college Hospital has established a coronary care unit with Echocardiography, Holter, TMT, Image Intensifier, and facilities for regular implantation of temporary and permanent pacemakers. . In addition, following facilities are available.

A Central Collection Lab has been established to provide facilities for collection of various samples at a single point in the hospital. The samples are then sent to respective labs for testing and the reports are also issued from the report-issuing window of the central collection lab. The quality control of the various laboratory tests is also ensured and various automation and semi-automation analysers are used in the various laboratories.

Emergency Services

The emergency wing is well equipped with modern facilities to provide the emergency and trauma care services round the clock on all days. There are 5 beds in Triage area and 22 beds in emergency ward. One emergency OT and one minor OT is located in emergency wing. The services include accident, trauma, medical and surgical emergencies, pediatrics and Gynae emergencies.

Intensive Care Unit

Intensive Care unit is having 57 beds for ICCU, ICU, RICU, NICU, PICU, Obs & Gynae ICU, and burn treatment unit. All resuscitation and maintenance equipment like- monitors, ventilators, defibrillators and oxygen/ suction supply are available.

Operation Theaters

The hospital has 12 well-equipped modular operation theaters for General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obs, and Gynae and for Superspecialties like-Plastic Surgery, Neuro Surgery, and Paediatric surgery besides one for emergency services in the casualty section. Beside there are three minor OTs.

Blood Bank

There is one licensed Blood Bank in Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College Hospital. The Blood Bank is well equipped and has facility to prepare the blood components. It is catering to the need of all the medical and surgical specialties and superspecialties of medical college Hospital.

Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC)

Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) for HIV positive or negative clients who or whose health care provider think they can be HIV positive. They are counseled and tested here regarding their HIV positive or negative status. The service of one male and one female qualified counselor for counselling and information on AIDS in addition to laboratory back up for HIV testing is also available. Centre opens on working days only. The centre is situated on first floor adjacent to the OPD of pulmonary medicine.

The duty roster for the faculty members & resident doctors is displayed on the notice board of all the department. Inquiry & reception counter function round the clock in the emergency of hospital. The staff members from Medical Record Department provide patient related information and also prepare the medical record (OPD cards/ Admission case sheet).

Administrative Block

The administrative block of hospital is located on the 5th floor and houses the office of Medical Superintendent, D.H.A./Jt-D.H.A Dy. Medical Superintendent, Nursing Superintendent, and other staff members.

Indoor Treatment

★ All patients admitted in general wards of the hospital are treated free of cost.
★ Two attendant passes are given to every admitted patient.
★ Visitors are allowed only during notified visiting hours with visitors pass.
★ The diagnostic facilities like MRI,Sprial CT and Cardic Cath Lab. Echo,TMT etc. are charged 50% of existing OPD charges.
★ For poor patient, these charges can be waived on the recommendation of the treating doctors by the Medical Superintendent/Dy. Medical Superintendent.
★ Staff nurse are on duty round the clock in wards.

★ Having full mechanized kitchen from where diet of patient is prepared, fully    mechanized laundry with modern equipment and gadgets.
★ The Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) for providing sterilized supplies to    varioussection and operation theaters of the hospital is also available.
★ The full fledged engineering wing also available for running the various hospital    services round the clock. The DG sets, AC plant, Incinerator, fire Hydrant System    on all the floors, Boilers, Manifold Services, Lifts etc. are some of the important    services under their control.

1. Department of Internal Medicine

The Department of Medicine is committed to three equally valued and interrelated missions: delivering quality patient care, educating students in accordance with highest professional standards, and generating knowledge from research that will alleviate human suffering through the prevention and treatment of disease.This is a busy department which handles Outdoor, Indoor and Emergency Room. In addition, training is imparted to MBBS students by consultants specializing in different aspects like General Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology and Pulmonology. Fully equipped with spirometers, Nebuliers, ECG machine, Tread Mill and experienced physicians the department is able to make early and quick diagnosis in many cases to affect an early recovery and save many lives.The department manages a variety of chronic medical conditions like diabetes, hypertension, cardiac diseases, renal failures, neurological complication, arrythmias, dyselectrolytemia, septicaemia etc. special clinics like Diabetes Clinic, Hypertension Clinics, Asthma Clinics etc. are also in place where all facilities are provided under single windows.
Patients requiring urgent attention and intensive care are treated in Medical ICU, ICCU etc.

2. Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Department of obstetrics & gynaecology trains medical students in theTeerthankerMahaveer Hospital and Medical Research Centre. An experienced faculty manages the department of obs. &Gynae. The objective is to train the medical students to be able to provide quality care to patients obstetrical &gynaecological problems.The attached teaching hospital is equipped with ultra modern diagnostic and therapeutic facilities to provide an excellent academic & clinical environment to medical students. A variety of obstetrical and gynaecological disorders are treated regularly. Facilities to carry out routine OPD & Indoor activities along with 24 hours emergency services are available. Department has facilities for all types of obstetrics & gynae surgeries. Number of camps & community services are organized off and on. 3. Department of Ophtalmology

Department of Ophthalmology provides quality clinical and academic training to undergraduate medical students in theTeerthankerMahaveer Hospital and Research Centre. An experienced and goal oriented faculty manages the department of Ophthalmology. These faculty members are trained in different sub-specialties of Ophthalmology. The objectives are to train the students to function as good clinician as well as to assist in the implementation of various National Programs, besides preparing them for higher learning.The attached teaching hospital is equipped with ultra-modern diagnostic and therapeutic facilities to provide an excellent academic and clinical orientation to the medical students. The institution also provides quality eye care services to the general population. Facilities to carry out routine eye operations for cataract, glaucoma, lid and vitreous, retina, and intraocular lens implantation by latest techniques are available.Various community activities and eye camps are also organized by the faculty to bring comprehensive eye care services to the doorstep of the common man. The academic activities of the department include conducting various workshops, symposia and CMEs aimed at creating an awareness of the changing trends in the field, both to the student and the clinician.

4. Department of Otorhinolaryngology

The department of otorhinolaryngology provides diagnosis & treatment of various ear, nose, throat, head and neck disorders. It provides facilities of micro ear surgery, nose surgery, functional endoscopic sinus surgery & Head & neck surgery. The department is equipped with good audiology unit with quality services comprising of Audiometry, Speech Therapy and hearing Aids. Very shortly, a cadaveric Temporal bone dissection lab would be part of the department. There is a healthy academic atmosphere for free discussion amongst faculty & students.

5. Department of Anatomy

The department of Anatomy trains medical students in the basic knowledge of Human body, which is fundamental in understanding the disease process and its treatment.The students are trained to understand the structural and functional relationship in Gross Anatomy, Microscopic Anatomy, Embryology, Genetics & applied Anatomy, The objective is to provide comprehensive knowledge of human Anatomy through lectures, demonstrations, and practices. So that, the students is well versed in the basic science and is able to apply the knowledge in understanding the Medical problems.The department is having a large airy well ventilated Dissection Hall, Histology Hall and research Lab, well equipped with modern audio visual aids and instruments The department is established with proper dissection hall, Histology lab, and well displayed Museum having articulated and disarticulated skeleton, various models, charts and specimen for training and teaching the students in the structure of various body parts of human being as well as the development of fetus. An experienced Faculty helps the students and manages the Department. An excellent museum facility helps the student in their study. Various academic activities like conducting seminars and group discussions are regularly done.
The students are also trained in the modern techniques of imaging (ultrasound and computerized axial tomogram techniques) relating to structure and applied anatomical details. The department is fully staffed and equipped.

6. Department of Biochemistry

The department carries out teaching ofMBBS students detailing various biochemical processes relating to normal functioning as well as recognizing the disease conditions of various organs of the body. All diseases diagnosis are also dealt with at molecular level.The clinical biochemistry unit of the department is involved in laboratory diagnosis for patients by performing various routine and specialized investigations for patient attending the Hospital. The department is also involved in various research activities.

7. Department of Microbiology

The students are trained in various aspects of subject of Microbiology viz. Bacteriology, Immunology,Parasitology, Mycology, and Virology. The students are trained for understanding the features, growth character differentiation character and identification in laboratory with insight into the mechanism of disease production, symptomatology and epidemiology with available measures for prevention pertaining to various Bacteria, Viruses, Fungi and Parasite which are significant as human pathogens. They are also taught about processes involved in development of resistance to infections under Immunology as well as vaccines.The goal of teaching Microbiology is to provide understanding of the natural history of infection diseases in order to deal with etiology, pathogenesis, laboratory diagnosis, treatment, control & prevention of these infection diseases. The students are demonstrated various techniques in the practical classes and are trained about the etiology of various diseases and various diagnostic tests for them.The department has got well equipped laboratories for diagnostic services, teaching and research activities. It also has got a well organized museum, housing several charts, models and specimen including live Bacterial cultures with proper catalogues. The department is involved in conducting research investigation on problems of local importance. The department is providing diagnostic services in the field of Bacteriology, Serology, Parasitology, Mycology and Virology (Serology) in its clinical Microbiology wing.
It is also providing services for sterility surveillance for Operation Theaters and other sterile units of the Hospital by regularly sampling and isolating pathogens from these areas.

8. Department of Pathology

Department is concerned about teaching various disease states of organs of the body by imparting lectures and practical and demonstrations on various aspects of the diseases. The department haswell organizedmuseuam having specimen , charts and models displayed systematically and prepared slides for hematological diseases andhistopathological lesions which may be malignant , or nonmalignant tumours and inflammatory disorders. Students are doing several test procedures themselves in practical classes.The department is also involved in providing diagnostics services in clinical Hematology, Cytopathology, Histopathology and clinical Pathology for the patients attending the Hospital.A state of art of Blood Bank with facilities for collecting from suitable donors screening collected blood for various infected disease before labeling it for suitable transfusions and proper storage and cross matching with the prospective receipient.
The services are to be augmented by adding component unit in the Blood Bank. The Blood Bank is duly licensed by the regularly authorized the department is also involved in conducting in research projects of significance to the local populations at large.

9. Department of Community Medicine

Department is involved in community based medical education to students, involving comprehensive health care to the community and health research activities. Department is equipped with museum with latest and informative models, specimen and charts.It has separate research laboratory and library.Department runs two health and training centers, one is in urban area and another is in rural area. Rural Health Training Center is at Chungi par, Amroha, and Urband Health Centre is in Buddhi Vihar, Moradabad. Comprehensive health care to the community and teaching and training to the students are given through the Health centers as well.
All the national health programs are run at the centers in collaboration with Govt. Health Sector as well. The students are taken to the community for teaching and training purpose. Two Govt. primary health centers; PHC Kundarki and PHC Tajpur have been attached for teaching, training and research purpose by the competent authority.

10. Department of Forensic Medicine

In this department theMBBS students are exposed to various medico-legal aspects of the human beings in different situations. They are trained in medico-legal terminologies and practices by giving lectures and practical demonstrations.The department has got well equipped laboratories for diagnostic services, teaching and research activities. It also has got a well organized museum, housing several charts, models and specimen including various poisons and weapons of offence with proper catalogues.The students are also trained by exposing them to postmortem being conducted by competent medical officers of the state.

11. Department of Pharmacology

The students are trained in essential medicine concept to promote safe and effective use of drugs (Rational drug use) including drug formulations, drug combinations, drug interactions, adverse drug reactions & its management and toxicology.The department is fully equipped with ultra modern equipments and has excellent state of Art e-labs (computer assisted learning an alternative to animal experimentation), Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacy, and experimental labs.The department has got well equipped laboratories for diagnostic services, teaching and research activities. It also has got a well organized museum, housing several charts, models and specimen of drugs with proper catalogues.
The department is also looking after Pharmacovigilance cell and animal house and central labs for research. The students are trained by giving didactic lectures, practical & tutorials and seminars covering up the afore mentioned area of the subjects. The department is conducting research on several projects including drug utilization studies and ante-microbial use. Emphasis on partial problem based and community oriented teaching learning is adopted.

12. Department of Surgery

Department of surgery trains medical students in the Hospital. An experienced faculty manages the department of Surgery. The objective is to train the medical students to be able to provide quality care to patients with surgical problems.The attached teaching hospital is equipped with ultra diagnostic and therapeutic facilities to provide an excellent academic & clinical environment to medical students. A variety of surgical disorders are treated regularly. Facilities to carry out routine OPD & indoor activities along with 24 hours emergency services are available.Department has facilities for all type of surgeries including laparoscopy, cystoscopy and upper and lower endoscopy. Number of camps & community services are organized off and on. Various academic activities like conducting workshops, symposia & CME’s are held on regular basis.

13. Department of Orthopaedics

The department oforthopedics aims at training the medical students in the Hospital to be able to address the commonorthopedics problems encountered inday to day practice.Experienced faculty members, manage the department of orthopedics & impart knowledge & clinical skills to the medical undergraduates.The attached teaching Hospital is equipped with ultramodern diagnostic & therapeutic abilities to enable students to have a deep insight into the clinical problems related to the specialty. A variety of orthopedics’ problems are treated regularly. Facilities to carry out routine OPD & Indoor activities along with 24 hrs emergency services are available. The department has facilities for all types of orthopedic surgeries, like joint replacement, various types of fracture fixation, spine surgeries etc.
Special community services for polio patients are regularly organized by the department. Various academic activities like workshops, CMEs are held on regular basis.

14. Department of Pediatrics

In many ways the Department of Pediatrics draws its inspiration from the children it helps every day. The ones who – need brilliant minds to make things better. Aim of this department is to provide adequate training opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and attitudes to produce a medical officer self empowered to practice a primary care level and manage common childhood diseases and health care problems of children in any part of the country.

15. Department of TB & Chest

This department has a functioning allergy clinic, bronchoscopy unit and pulmonary function laboratory. Department iswell known centre for management of TB, Asthma, lung cancer and other allied chest diseases diagnosis treatment, teaching, training and research in the field of tuberculosis, asthma, allergy, and allied sciences. The department is well equipped with basic as well as latest equipments to handle all kinds ofOPD patients.The department has been regularly undertaking need oriented clinical research in the field of tuberculosis, MDR-TB, AIDS and other respiratory diseases.

16. Department of Skin & VD

Department of Skin & VD is established to train medical students in the Hospital. An experienced faculty manages the department. The objective is to train the medical students to be able to provide quality care to patients ofSTDs and Dermatological illnesses.The attached teaching hospital is fully equipped with diagnostic & therapeutic facilities to provide an excellent academic & clinical environment to medical students. Patients with Leprosy, sexually transmitted diseases & various dermatological conditions are treated regularly on OPD and Indoor basis. Minor surgical and cosmetic procedures are performed regularly in the department.Camps and community services are organized monthly. Academic activities like CMEs preservation are held on regular basis.

17. Department of Physiology

This department provides comprehensive knowledge of the normal function of the organ system of human body to facilitate understanding of the physiologic basis of health and disease.The department has well equipped laboratories to train the undergraduate and postgraduate students where they perform experiments on hematology, clinical physiology, amphibian as well as mammalian physiology.The department has adequate teaching & technical staff to guide the student & help them perform to the best of their ability.

18. Department of Psychiatry

Department of Psychiatry trains medical students. Psychiatry department has experienced faculty and the main objective is to teach and train the medical students so that they can deliver quality medical care to their patients. Training of other health staff in mental health is also done by the members of the department. Services also include psychological assessments and research related to Psychiatry and Psychology.The attached teaching hospital is equipped with ultra modern diagnostic and therapeutic facilities such as Modified Behavior Therapy machine, Biofeedback Machine, E.E.G, and E.C.T machines. This department is equipped to deal with all of the psychiatric problems just like any other psychiatric department of the top medical colleges in India.The Department plays a key role in the current medical studies. The research interests of the Department include neuropsychiatry, neuro-imaging, neuropsychology, psychosocial research, economic evaluation, psycho-neuro-endocrinology, psycho-pharmacology, ethics, psychiatric epidemiology, and service delivery, and in early psychosis schizophrenia, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, childhood psychiatric disorders, youth mental health, women’s mental health, dementia and psychiatry of old age.

19. Department of Anesthesiology

The department ofAnesthesiology aims at training medical students and to provide quality care to patients.The experienced faculty members manage the department and impart knowledge and clinical skills to the medical graduates. The attached teaching Hospital has 8 Operation Theaters which are well equipped with all anaesthesia equipments along with ICU care facilities to enable students to have deep insight into the clinical problems related to the specialty. Facilities to carry out routine OT operations along with 24 hours emergency services are available. The department has facilities to take up all type of Anaesthesia procedures and resuscitative measures.Various academic activities like workshop, CME’s are held on regular basis.

20.Department of Radiology

The Department of Diagnostic Radiology is staffed by a large experienced team ofsubspecialty radiologists who offer a full range of radiological services, covering diagnostic as well as imaging-guided therapeutic procedures.The Department is well equipped with various Imaging Equipment such as Whole Body CT Scanners, Ultrasound equipments with color Doppler, X-Ray Machines like 500 MA X-Ray Unit. Portable X-Ray Units and a Mammography unit are also available.

21. Central Laboratory

The facility of various diagnostic facilities as Clinical Pathology, Biochemistry,Hematology, Histopathology and Microbiology are available under one roof.Diagnostic tests like pathological examination of all sorts of blood, urine, stool, sputum, tissue, vaginal cytology, FNAC & biopsy are routinely available. Similarly, Serum biochemistry, Tumor Marker study, Hormone assays, Thyroid function tests etc. are also done on regular basis.Hospital supports a blood- bank for the serious & critically ill patients. Blood units are issued strictly on voluntary / Replacement donors are accepted. All the standards laid down by the Government of India for the collection, screening & storage of blood are strictly followed.

The University invites Applications From from eligible candidates for admission to different professional programs offered by the University. Admission to these programs will be made on the bassis of merit determined as per the procedure laid down in the brochure/website

A Candidate seeking admissioni in any of the academic programs of the University is required to fill-up the application form given in the Admission Brochure. The Admission Brochure alongwith the application form is available on all days of the week (Monday to Sunday) from 09:00 A.M. to 06:00 PM and can be obtained through:

(i) Cash Payment: The Admission Brochure consisting of an application form can be obtained from the Admission Cell of the University on payment of Rs. 600/- in cash.

(ii) Speed Post/Courier: The Admission Brochure alongwith the application form can also be obtained through Speed Post/courier. A request in this regard should be sent to the Director-Admissions & Finance, Teerthanker Mahaveer University, N.H.-24, Delhi Road, Moradabad (U.P.)-244001alongwith a demand draft/pay order of Rs. 600/- (Rupees Six hundred only) drawn in favour of the‘Teerthanker Mahaveer University’, payable at Moradabad. The name, address and phone number of the applicant should be clearly mentioned on the back-side of the demand draft/pay order.

(iii) Downloading from University Website: The application form can also be downloaded from the University Website (www.tmu.ac.in) and duly filled-up form can be forwarded to the Director-Admission & Finance, Teerthanker Mahaveer University, N.H.-24, Delhi Road, Moradabad (U.P.)-244001alongwith a demand draft of Rs. 600/- favouring ‘Teerthanker Mahaveer University’, payable at Moradabad.

Admission Rules & Regulations

Go through all the instructions given in the admission brochure carefully
If you have appeared in a qualifying examination and the result, thereof, is awaited, you can take provisional admission.
Attach certified copies of your mark sheets/testimonials with the application form. At this stage, do not send any original copies of mark sheets/testimonials.
Paste your latest photograph in the space provided for in the application form.
Before submitting/mailing the duly filled-up application form, go through all the points contained in the form.
The merit list declared by the University shall be final and binding.
If any document/declaration submitted by the candidate is found to be false/forged at any stage, his or her admission shall be cancelled and he/she may be liable for prosecution under law.
The selection to the program will be provisional until the candidate furnishes all the required documents and testimonials, including the final results of the qualifying examination at the time of admission.
Involvement of any candidate in any form of criminal activities debars the candidate from seeking admission in any program of the university. Concealment of information on this account will tantamount to cancellation of admission if detected subsequently.
If the University is not satisfied with the character, past behaviour or antecedents of a candidate, it can refuse to admit him/her to any course of study in the University.
It is advisable that students seeking admission in the University should visit it along with their parents/guardians to see the infrastructural facilities such as classrooms, laboratories, library, hostel, transportation, etc. This may facilitate their decision at the time of counseling/admission.
At the time of admission, the students are required to submit the Non-Judicial affidavit being signed by him/her along with their parents/guardians with regard to disciplinary behaviour during the entire period of the program. If any deviation is found, he/she is to be subjected to the punishment/ suspension/rustication as per the University rules and regulations.
In case of any legal dispute, the jurisdiction will be limited to Moradabad courts only.
